Our Primary Project:
As We Rise School
Distribution of funds:
The funds will be used to construct an all-girls school in Murdike Pakistan. It will cover the costs of construction, buying the plot of land, textbooks, school supplies, teacher staffing, a guard, and a driver who will pick up the students as well as other transportation costs (renting/buying a vehicle, gas, etc.).
Targeted population specifics:
The intended population is as follows: age range from 12–17, race is Asian, ethnicity is Pakistani, geographic location/community is Murdike (a small town an hour outside of Lahore), Pakistan, average family income in the targeted area is around 100,000 Pakistani Rupees, or about 350 dollars a year.
Student specifics:
To fund each student will cost around $175 U.S. dollars per year, for their school supplies, uniforms, and transportation. The student and their family will not be obligated to pay any fees, as they have been selected because their families cannot afford to send them to school. As We Rise Foundation will pay for all the needed supplies and materials to provide education for the students.
Impact of intended project:
The project is providing the opportunity of education to young girls in Pakistan. Reforming the entrenched patriarchal standards and expectations of a male-focused education system is only attainable by having the very people that are being suppressed, aided with the liberating ability to articulate their needs in an informed way that will advance their place socioeconomically. It doesn’t just end with the city of Lahore, or even Pakistan. As We Rise Foundation seeks to unite young women worldwide to advocate for themselves. The Aerie Real Foundation is all about this core belief of empowering women, building confidence, and fostering an inclusive community worldwide. What’s more empowering than having women, previously at a disadvantage due to their economic situation, educated enough to rise out of their current state? To make a name for themselves and support their families, to achieve their aspirations, and to not limit their dreams in what’s possible. Educating women, especially in Pakistan, will bring forth new perspectives on issues worldwide, cultivating an inclusive network.
Project cost:
Our organization was granted 501(c)3 status in July of 2022. After a research trip in August of 2022 to further investigate the reasons for retention loss in secondary schools, we’ve determined that the projected total expenses for the first year will equate to about $20,000. Please keep in mind that the first year which will include buying the land, building the property as well as buying necessary equipment for the school will be the most costly.
